Internet services to be suspended in parts of central Delhi for 24 hours amid CJP protest call

Mobile internet services will remain suspended within a 4-km radius of the Janpath-Kartavya Path crossing in New Delhi for 24 hours from 10 pm on Friday, following approval from the Union Home Ministry.
The suspension will remain in force until 10 pm on Saturday, October 10, with instructions issued to suspend all forms of mobile internet technology in the specified area.
The move comes ahead of a protest called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke on Friday alleged that thousands of young people across the country had been detained ahead of the demonstration. He said he would arrive in Delhi on Saturday and march to Jantar Mantar.
Metro, rail services face restrictions
The internet suspension comes amid other restrictions announced in the capital ahead of the planned demonstration.
The Delhi Police have asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to reduce train frequency and close entry and exit gates at 57 metro stations from 9 pm on October 9, citing security concerns linked to the proposed protests. The DMRC confirmed the closures.
Indian Railways has also cancelled Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10, citing anticipated severe road traffic congestion around the stations.
Eastern Railway has separately cancelled the 12301 Howrah-New Delhi and 12313 Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express trains scheduled to depart on Friday.
