Delhi High Court asks CBFC to review ‘Dhurandhar 2’ over security concerns

The Delhi High Court has directed the Central Government and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to examine allegations related to the film Dhurandhar:
The Revenge (often referred to as Dhurandhar 2). Concerns were raised that the movie may contain scenes revealing sensitive information connected to military and intelligence operations.
The matter came before the court after a petition was filed by a serving member of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
The petition claimed that certain parts of the film allegedly show operational methods, intelligence procedures, and tactical details in a way that could potentially create security risks.
During the hearing, the court observed that even when a film is created as fictional entertainment, its possible impact cannot be completely ignored if there are concerns involving national security.
Instead of ordering any immediate restriction on the film, the court asked authorities to review the claims and take an appropriate decision after examining the concerns raised in the petition.
The issue has triggered discussions around the balance between creative freedom in cinema and the responsibility of ensuring that sensitive information related to national security is protected.
The final review by the concerned authorities may determine whether any further action is required.
