Delhi CM Gupta holds public hearing, orders swift action on civic grievances

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday held a public hearing at the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sadan, where she directly interacted with residents from across the Capital and instructed officials to act swiftly on complaints related to civic services, education, social welfare, and law enforcement.
The programme saw a large number of people arriving with personal and administrative grievances, ranging from pending municipal issues to education-related hardships and family disputes.
The Chief Minister said the initiative was aimed not only at resolving complaints but also at improving accountability and trust between the government and citizens.
Officials from several departments, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, police, revenue, education, and social welfare, were directed to review the complaints and ensure timely action.
The Chief Minister personally heard several cases and sought updates from the concerned authorities during the proceedings.
One of the key issues raised during the hearing concerned pending civic matters linked to the Municipal Corporation.
Residents complained about unresolved local problems and delays in administrative action.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to review all pending matters on priority and ensure that appropriate solutions were implemented without further delay.
In another case, a woman approached the Chief Minister regarding difficulties affecting her children’s education. After hearing the complaint, the Chief Minister directed officials to provide immediate assistance so that the children’s studies would not be disrupted.
The Chief Minister also intervened in a matter involving banking issues and a family dispute after a woman sought help during the hearing.
Taking serious note of the complaint, the Chief Minister instructed the concerned authorities to extend legal and administrative support to the aggrieved woman and ensure that the matter was addressed fairly.
Speaking during the programme, the Chief Minister said governance should not remain limited to policy announcements or official files. She said the real purpose of government schemes was fulfilled only when ordinary citizens were able to access relief, justice, and public services without unnecessary hurdles.
“The government’s responsibility does not end with launching schemes. Their benefits must reach every citizen effectively,” she said during the interaction.
The Chief Minister said the Delhi Government was committed to functioning in the spirit of Antyodaya, with a focus on reaching the last person in society.
According to her, public hearings provide the administration with direct feedback from citizens and also help identify gaps within the system. She said such interactions were important because they allowed people to place their grievances directly before the government instead of moving endlessly between departments and offices.
Officials present at the Jan Seva Sadan were instructed to maintain regular follow-up on the complaints raised during the hearing and ensure that pending matters were not allowed to remain unresolved for long periods.
The public hearing programme is part of the Delhi Government’s broader attempt to establish direct communication between citizens and the administration. Senior officials said such meetings would continue to improve service delivery and strengthen coordination between departments.
