Delhi braces for fresh spell of rain as IMD issues Yellow Alert for July 21 - 22

Delhi is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall on Monday evening, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a more active monsoon spell beginning July 21. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for July 21 and 22, warning of widespread rain, thunderstorms and lightning across Delhi-NCR as the monsoon trough shifts back over the northern plains.
According to the IMD, the rainfall is expected to bring relief from the recent hot and humid conditions, with maximum temperatures likely to fall by 3–5°C over the coming days. While Monday's showers are expected to be scattered, Tuesday and Wednesday could witness more widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy spells in some areas. Residents have been advised to remain cautious as waterlogging, traffic congestion and reduced visibility may affect normal life during peak rainfall hours.
Weather officials said the revival in monsoon activity is linked to the return of the monsoon trough to its normal position over north India. Authorities have urged commuters to check weather updates before travelling and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and heavy showers.
