Two women rescued, 3 arrested in G B Road human trafficking case

Three women have been arrested for allegedly trafficking women and forcing them into prostitution at a brothel in Delhi's G B Road area, police said on Monday, August 31.

Two women were rescued in separate cases after approaching police and seeking help, they said.

In the first case, a 26-year-old married woman from West Bengal, who has three children, was reported missing on May 2. On August 25, she contacted her mother and told her that she was being confined at a brothel on G B Road.

"On August 26, the woman's mother approached the Women Police Post, following which a team reached the premises and rescued the victim," a senior police officer said.

During questioning, the woman told police that a man identified as Kalu had befriended her at a railway station in West Bengal and promised to help her find employment. He allegedly brought her to Delhi, took away her mobile phone and sold her to Geeta, a caretaker at the brothel.

Geeta allegedly kept the woman at her residence for about a month before taking her to G B Road, where she was handed over to the brothel owner.

The woman was allegedly forced into prostitution, while the money she earned was allegedly taken by Geeta and Manju, who worked at the brothel, the officer said.

During the police operation, another woman from West Bengal, aged around 28, approached the police.

The second woman told police that she had left her home around two years ago with her eight-year-old son following a quarrel with her husband and mother-in-law. A woman allegedly befriended them and brought them to Delhi on the pretext of helping the mother and son.

She was promised work as a domestic help but was allegedly forced into prostitution at the G B Road brothel. The woman also alleged that the brothel's caretakers threatened to harm her son if she refused to work there.

The boy was later taken to a hostel by Paro Khatoon, another caretaker at the brothel. Police said efforts were underway to trace him.

Geeta, Manju and Paro Khatoon have been arrested, officials said.

Police said the three accused had previously been involved in a similar human trafficking case registered at Kamla Market police station in 2025 and were out on bail at the time of their arrest.

Two cases have been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Further investigation is underway, police said.
