DDA to enrol 750 lifetime members at Roshanara Club
Following the directions of the Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will enrol 750 new lifetime members of the iconic Roshanara Club. Beginning on August 28, the scheme will remain open till October 27.
Under the lifetime membership scheme, 400 memberships are being offered under the non-Government category at a membership charge of Rs 12.50 lakh plus GST, while 350 memberships are being offered under the Government/PSU category at Rs 4 lakh plus GST.
The club remained closed to public membership for several years. Calling it an opportunity for sports lovers and heritage enthusiasts, officials said the members would have access to exclusive facilities, including the recently launched clubhouse offering food and beverage services, a card room and a gymnasium. All facilities will be available to members and their dependants, while up to six guests will be allowed per member.
The Club House provides members with a range of leisure and social facilities, including a lounge, restaurant, café and dining areas, bar, banquet facilities, kids’ zone, billiards and card room. These facilities will be available to members in accordance with the applicable Bye-Laws and prescribed charges.
“Registration for the membership scheme will open on 28 August 2026 at 12:00 AM and remain open till 27 October 2026 at 11:59 PM. The Roshanara Club offers a wide range of sports, fitness and recreational facilities. These include a main cricket pitch and practice pitches, tennis, squash, basketball, badminton, table tennis, pickleball, swimming pool, toddler’s pool, multi-gym and fitness centre, as well as yoga and yoga classes. For budding sports enthusiasts, the Club also offers coaching facilities, including training by qualified coaches in select disciplines. The cricket ground can also be made available for matches, tournaments and sporting or corporate events, providing members with opportunities to train, play and participate in a range of sporting activities.
The lifetime membership offers members access to a comprehensive sports, fitness, recreational and social environment, including outdoor and indoor sports, fitness and wellness activities, swimming, recreational games, dining and social spaces. It also supports better utilisation of the Club’s extensive sports and recreational infrastructure.
DDA Roshanara Club, spread over 22 acres of green surroundings, has a unique sporting legacy. The Club is associated with the early history of Indian cricket and is recognised as the birthplace of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Over a century old, the Club was officially taken over by DDA on 29 September 2023 after the Delhi High Court upheld its eviction order.
Through this membership, DDA is providing sports and heritage enthusiasts an opportunity to become part of an enduring legacy, a club that has witnessed history, nurtured sporting excellence and continues to reflect Delhi’s vibrant and evolving cultural fabric.
DDA has played an important role in developing sports infrastructure and promoting sports in the national capital. At present, DDA has 18 sports complexes, four mini sports complexes and 3 public golf courses across Delhi.
The club is located on a 22-acre plot in north Delhi and is named after Begum Roshanara, daughter of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Established in 1922, it was also the site where the Board of Control for Cricket in India was founded in 1928. Before the takeover, the club had more than 4,000 members.
