CM Rekha unveils Bhagat Singh statues, renames RCS office

Delhi's RCS Office Complex on Parliament Street will now be known as "Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Sangharsh Sthali," as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled statues of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev during the "Chalo Bhagat Singh Ke Saath" walkathon organised on the revolutionary's birth anniversary.

Thousands of youth, volunteers, Delhi Government employees and citizens participated in the walkathon from Parliament Street to Kartavya Path, carrying the Tricolour and raising slogans of "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai."

The Chief Minister also visited the historic courtroom located within the RCS Office Complex. Cooperation and Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh attended as guest of honour.

The Chief Minister greeted the participating youth, praising their enthusiasm for the journey dedicated to Bhagat Singh.

Singh said the complex is not merely a Government office but a historical site associated with Bhagat Singh's life and struggle. He said that following his arrest after the Assembly bombing, Bhagat Singh was brought from the then Parliament Street Police Station to the courtroom within this complex, where his case proceedings were conducted. After taking charge of the Cooperation Department, Singh said he collected historical documents confirming these facts and raised the issue of preserving the site with Chief Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

"It is a matter of great pride that the place which was known as the RCS Office will now be known as 'Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Sangharsh Sthali'. This is a true tribute by the Delhi Government to the great revolutionaries of our nation," Singh said.

The walkathon passed through Vitthal Bhai Patel House, Mavalankar Auditorium, Shram Shakti Bhawan, Rafi Marg and Krishi Bhawan before culminating at Kartavya Path, where patriotic songs, cultural performances and a light and sound show depicting Bhagat Singh's life were presented.
