CBSE strengthens OnMark portal security after vulnerability reports

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has acknowledged security vulnerabilities in its OnMark evaluation portal and announced immediate steps to enhance the platform’s cybersecurity.

The board said that experts from government cybersecurity agencies and leading Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have been engaged to assess and strengthen the system.

CBSE stated that the identified vulnerabilities have been contained and that additional security audits and checks are currently underway.

The board also appreciated ethical hackers and concerned citizens who responsibly reported the issues, helping authorities address potential risks before they could be exploited.

In a post on X, CBSE encouraged anyone who discovers security concerns to report them directly to its security team rather than sharing them publicly.

The move comes amid increased attention on the security of digital platforms used in the education sector, particularly those handling sensitive examination and evaluation data.

The board assured stakeholders that protecting the integrity and confidentiality of its systems remains a top priority.
