Cattle theft accused injured in Bulandshahr police encounter; five arrested, one still on the run

A suspected cattle thief was injured in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr after a team of officers intercepted a group allegedly involved in buffalo theft. According to police, the accused opened fire while attempting to escape, prompting officers to retaliate. One suspect sustained a bullet injury to the leg and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police said five people have been arrested in connection with the case, while one accused remains absconding. The operation followed an investigation into the attempted theft of buffaloes reported in the district.
Authorities recovered illegal firearms, live cartridges, a vehicle allegedly used in the crime, and other items linked to the theft from the arrested suspects. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and police teams are conducting searches to trace the absconding accused.
Officials said efforts are also underway to determine whether the arrested individuals were involved in other cattle theft incidents in the region. The investigation is continuing, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
