Seven BRS leaders arrested over turmeric-water incident near KCR residence

Police have arrested seven BRS leaders from Varadarajpur in Siddipet district for allegedly spraying turmeric water on a vehicle carrying Congress leaders travelling towards former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s residence in Erravelli.

The incident took place when Congress leaders were heading to the area to stage a protest. Following complaints, police took the seven accused into custody in Vijayawada on Sunday night.

They were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.

The arrests are part of a wider investigation into alleged turmeric-water “purification” activities reported near KCR’s farmhouse and surrounding areas after Congress leaders held protests.

Police have registered three cases in connection with the incidents. The BRS has disputed the allegations and questioned the authenticity of material circulated about the incidents.
