Brother sister arrested for murder of sisters lover in Sirsa

Police have arrested a woman and her brother on Monday, August 3, for allegedly killing their sister's lover here, officials said on Monday.

A complainant alleged that the deceased, Ankit, was in regular phone contact with Mamta, a resident of Jamal village, and claimed that her family opposed their relationship.

He alleged that Ankit was murdered because of this relationship.

Police said they found the victim's body near the Maujdin Kasaba Minor canal in the Sirsa Sadar police station area on July 28. After recovering the body and sending it for a post-mortem, they registered a murder case against unidentified persons.

During the investigation, Suresh Kumar, a resident of Phephana village in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh district, identified the deceased as his cousin, Ankit, who had been missing since July 25.

According to the complaint, the family identified Ankit after seeing photographs of the body circulated on a WhatsApp group.

Police said Suresh later reached the Civil Hospital in Sirsa and confirmed that the body, which bore multiple injury marks, was Ankit's.

Police arrested Mamta and her brother on charges of murdering Ankit.

Officials said they are questioning both accused and investigating the involvement of other family members or associates. Police said further investigation is underway.
