BRICS Summit 2026 : Who’s Who among the leaders attending the New Delhi meet
Leaders of BRICS member countries and partner nations will gather in the national capital on Saturday and Sunday for the two-day BRICS Summit, with India hosting the grouping amid growing geopolitical tensions and global trade uncertainty.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the summit, which will bring together several prominent leaders of the expanded BRICS grouping.
Narendra Modi — India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hosting the summit as India holds the BRICS chairship for 2026. This is India's fourth BRICS chairship, after 2012, 2016 and 2021.
New Delhi has placed food, energy and supply chain security at the centre of its agenda, along with cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, technology and other areas.
Xi Jinping — China
Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the summit, marking his first visit to India in seven years.
His presence is significant as India and China continue efforts to stabilise bilateral ties while also working together within BRICS on issues concerning the Global South and the global economy.
Vladimir Putin — Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin is among the key leaders attending the summit.
Russia is one of the founding members of BRICS and remains a major player in the grouping, particularly on energy, trade and geopolitical issues.
Masoud Pezeshkian — Iran
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will represent Iran, which joined BRICS in 2024.
His participation comes against the backdrop of the continuing West Asia crisis and tensions affecting energy supplies and regional trade routes.
Cyril Ramaphosa — South Africa
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will attend the summit representing one of the original BRICS members.
South Africa joined the grouping in 2011 after the original BRIC countries agreed to its inclusion.
Prabowo Subianto — Indonesia
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is among the leaders attending the New Delhi summit.
Indonesia became a full BRICS member in 2025, further expanding the grouping's representation among major emerging economies.
Other BRICS members
The expanded BRICS grouping also includes Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
The grouping currently has 11 full members and has also created a partner-country category that includes Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
The summit will focus on strengthening cooperation among member countries while addressing global economic and geopolitical challenges. The meeting will conclude with the release of the New Delhi Declaration.
