BJP Releases list of 43 properties allegedly linked to Abhishek Banerjee, TMC rejects claims

A fresh political controversy has erupted in West Bengal after the BJP released a list of 43 properties allegedly linked to Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee.

Sources said the Suvendu Adhikari-led BJP government plans to conduct a detailed investigation into the ownership of the properties, including the source of funds and possible irregularities. The development comes shortly after the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) issued notices to 17 properties associated with the Diamond Harbour MP over alleged unauthorised constructions.

The Trinamool Congress strongly denied the allegations, calling the list fake, misleading and politically motivated. The party claimed the document was based on a simple name search from the KMC database and did not establish ownership.

The controversy intensified after one property was allegedly linked to TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh. However, the Jadavpur MP denied any connection to the property mentioned in the circulated document and warned of legal action against those spreading “fake news”.

According to BJP sources, several of the properties are allegedly held jointly with aides and family members of Abhishek Banerjee. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari also claimed that multiple properties were registered under the company “Leaps and Bounds”, apart from assets allegedly held in the names of Abhishek Banerjee and his father.

Reacting to the allegations, Abhishek Banerjee asserted that he would not be intimidated by notices or investigations and vowed to continue his political fight against the BJP government.

The latest political flashpoint comes amid intensified attacks by the BJP on the previous Mamata Banerjee-led administration over alleged corruption and financial irregularities.
