Assam Cricket Association inaugurates flood lighting system at ACA Cricket Stadium

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) on Sunday marked another significant milestone in its commitment to strengthening cricket infrastructure across the state with the inauguration of the Flood Lighting System at the ACA Cricket Stadium, Umrangso, Dima Hasao.
The flood lighting system was formally inaugurated by Debolal Gorlosa, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, as the Chief Guest, in the august presence of Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
The state-of-the-art flood lighting facility is expected to significantly enhance the stadium’s capabilities by enabling day-night cricket, improving training opportunities for players, and paving the way for hosting more domestic and competitive cricketing events in the region. The development reflects ACA’s continued vision of expanding quality cricket infrastructure and promoting the growth of the game across every corner of Assam.
The occasion was also graced by ACA Apex Council Member Mukutananda Bhattacharjya, ACA Former Secretary Shri Tridib Konwar, ACA former Vice President Porikshit Dutta, members of the local cricketing fraternity, and other distinguished dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Debolal Gorlosa, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, lauded the Assam Cricket Association for its continued efforts in developing quality cricket infrastructure beyond the urban centres. He stated that the new flood lighting system at the ACA Cricket Stadium, Umrangso, would not only promote sporting excellence in the region but also inspire young cricketers from Dima Hasao to pursue the game at higher levels.
Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary, BCCI, congratulated the Assam Cricket Association on the successful completion of another significant infrastructure project.
Saikia also recalled that during the inauguration of the ACA Cricket Stadium at Umrangso, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had highlighted the importance of equipping the venue with floodlights to further strengthen cricketing activities in the region. Taking this as a forward-looking suggestion, the Assam Cricket Association undertook the project and successfully completed and inaugurated the floodlighting system.
He lauded ACA’s unwavering commitment to developing world-class cricket infrastructure and creating better opportunities for players across the State.
The event concluded with an exhibition match between the CEM XI and the ACA Secretary XI, adding to the excitement of the occasion. The friendly match celebrated the inauguration of the new floodlighting system and reflected the shared passion for promoting cricket in the region.
