AIADMK dismisses split; dialogue channels open with Vijay

Amid intensifying political activity in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK leader Kovai Sathyan on Wednesday said the “ball is in Vijay’s court” regarding potential cooperation between the AIADMK and the TVK.

Speaking to reporters, Sathyan emphasised that while there is significant “momentum” building between the camps, any formal decision regarding an alliance or support would be finalised by the AIADMK high command.

Addressing rumours of internal friction or a potential split within the party, Sathyan categorically dismissed such claims. “There is absolutely no question of the AIADMK splitting. Everyone is in common consensus, and the majority decision will be taken by the high command,” he asserted.

Asked about reports of TVK seeking support, Sathyan claimed that TVK has not officially reached out to any party with a formal letter. However, he noted that communication channels remain open.

“The ball is in Vijay’s court. He has to take a conscious decision whether he wants to complete the term or try to take more parties into his confidence to turn the dreams of 1.5 crore youth into reality,” Sathyan said.

Regarding the formation of a Government and the proving of strength, the AIADMK leader said the party is waiting for clarity from the Governor’s office.

He noted that the Governor has sought more details regarding the number of MLAs on the opposing side and is acting “as per the books of the Constitution”.

Sathyan refused to disclose specific numbers when asked if 25 or 30 MLAs were involved, urging the media to “wait until the end of the day” for further developments.
