Bihar Road Accident: 3 Pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh killed, 22 injured as bus hits truck on NH-2

At least 3 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh lost their lives and 22 others were injured in a road accident on the Grand Trunk Road (NH-2) in Bihar’s Aurangabad district early Monday morning.

The accident occurred when a private bus carrying pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh to Varanasi collided with a stationary truck near a roadside eatery under the Deo More area in the Mufassil police station limits.

Police said the bus was travelling from Gaya towards Varanasi when it rammed into the parked truck around 12:30 am. The impact of the collision was severe, with passengers seated on one side of the vehicle bearing the brunt of the crash.

According to officials, the pilgrims were part of a group from Nellore district who had embarked on a religious tour covering several pilgrimage sites, including Puri, Deoghar, Gaya, Bodh Gaya, and Varanasi.

The deceased have been identified as residents of Nellore. Among the injured, eight people are reported to be in serious condition and have been shifted to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital in Gaya for advanced treatment, while others are being treated at the district hospital.

Authorities confirmed that emergency response teams reached the spot soon after the incident and rescue operations were carried out to evacuate passengers from the damaged bus.

Police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the crash, including possible overspeeding or driver fatigue.

The injured passengers have also sought assistance from the Andhra Pradesh government following the tragic incident.
