108 Ambulance employees suspend agitation for 20 days

Employees working with the 108 ambulance service in Jharkhand on Wednesday suspended their phased agitation for 20 days following a meeting with Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari.

The decision was taken by the Jharkhand Pradesh Ambulance Karmachari Sangh after a meeting chaired by the Health Minister. The meeting discussed the employees’ pending demands and other issues concerning their working conditions and service-related matters.

According to the union, the government assured the employees that necessary steps would be taken to address their grievances. Following the assurance, the union decided to temporarily suspend its agitation.

The Jharkhand Pradesh Ambulance Karmachari Sangh said it expected the government to take concrete action on the employees’ demands within the next 20 days. The union warned that if the issues were not resolved, it would resume its phased agitation from October 6, 2026.

The union also thanked the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and the media for supporting the employees’ concerns and helping bring their demands to the attention of the government.

The meeting was attended by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh state general secretary Rajiv Ranjan Singh, state secretary and in-charge Ramashankar Prasad, Ranchi district secretary Subodh Kumar Yadav, Ambulance Karmachari Sangh state president Neeraj Tiwari, working president Mukesh Kumar, vice-president Ravikant Dev and state treasurer Kunal Banerjee, among others.

The temporary suspension of the agitation is expected to provide the government and the employees’ union time to work towards resolving the pending issues. The union, however, has indicated that further action would be taken if its demands are not addressed within the stipulated period.
