'Mirzapur: The Movie' crosses Rs 200 crore at domestic box office

"Mirzapur: The Movie", starring Ali Fazal, Divyenndu and Pankaj Tripathi, has crossed the Rs 200-crore mark at the domestic box office, continuing its strong run since its release earlier this month.

According to trade tracking website Sacnilk, the film has grossed Rs 204.87 crore in India, while its net domestic collection stands at Rs 171.86 crore.

Released on September 4, the film marks the first big-screen outing for the "Mirzapur" universe, which began as a streaming series in 2018 and became one of India's most successful OTT franchises over three seasons.

The film opened to more than Rs 20 crore in gross collections and brings back the lawless world of Mirzapur, where the struggle for power unfolds through violence, betrayal and rivalries.

Set in 2018, the movie explores an untold chapter from the first season of the series.

Ali Fazal, Divyenndu and Pankaj Tripathi lead the film, while Rasika Dugal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Shweta Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee reprise their roles from the series.

The film also introduces Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan and Sonal Chauhan to the franchise.

"Mirzapur: The Movie" is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment.
