Rape accused released on bail in UP gets Hero’s welcome with garlanded and roadshow

A rape-accused man in Uttar Pradesh was seen receiving a grand welcome after being released on bail, triggering widespread outrage after videos of the incident went viral.

The accused, identified as Sushil Prajapati, was released from jail in Ghaziabad after nearly nine months in custody. Soon after his release, he was allegedly greeted by supporters with marigold garlands and taken out in a roadshow-style procession.

In the viral footage, he can be seen being carried on shoulders, surrounded by supporters chanting slogans and celebrating his release. The visuals have sparked public criticism, with calls for action over the glorification of a serious criminal case.

Police have said they are reviewing the viral videos and examining the circumstances surrounding the public celebration following his bail release.
