Punjab man arrested for allegedly sharing Indian Army movement footage with Pakistan handlers

Punjab Police have arrested a man from Pathankot district for allegedly spying and sharing sensitive information related to Indian Army and paramilitary movements with handlers based in Pakistan.
The accused, identified as Baljit Singh, reportedly installed an internet-enabled CCTV camera near the Pathankot-Jammu stretch of National Highway-44 to monitor troop movements. Authorities claim the footage was then transmitted to contacts across the border.
According to investigators, the camera had been placed at a shop near a bridge in a strategically important area.
Police believe the accused used the surveillance system to track the movement of security forces and provide live updates. Initial findings suggest he was allegedly receiving instructions and payments for carrying out these activities.
Officials are now investigating the possibility of a wider network and trying to identify other people who may have been involved.
The arrest has raised concerns over national security and the misuse of technology for illegal activities.
Security agencies are also examining possible cross-border links and financial transactions connected to the case. Authorities have intensified their investigation to understand the extent of information shared and whether additional operatives were part of the alleged network.
