Punjab BJP flays AAP Govt over law and order, says citizens feel unsafe

Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Sunday accused the Aam Aadmi Party Government of pushing the State into “fear, lawlessness and financial bankruptcy”, alleging a complete collapse of law and order under the Bhagwant Mann-led dispensation.

In a Statement, Dhillon claimed that the Punjab Government was being run through “remote control” by AAP's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal from Delhi.

Referring to the recent daylight robbery of a street vendor in Nabha, he said such incidents reflected the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab.

Cases of chain-snatching, theft and robbery have become routine and criminals were openly targeting people's hard-earned money, he alleged, adding that citizens, women and traders no longer felt safe in the State.

Dhillon said the people of Punjab were promised “badlav” (change) by Kejriwal but had instead been given fear, insecurity, rising crime and financial distress.

“When a Government is more occupied with political theatrics than ensuring public safety, criminals naturally become emboldened,” he alleged.

Questioning Kejriwal over the State's security situation, Dhillon asked whether this was the “change” and governance model that had been promised to the people of Punjab.

The BJP leader said Punjab needed a Government that prioritised the safety and security of its citizens instead of spending public money on advertisements and political propaganda.

He demanded that the Bhagwant Mann Government take immediate and effective steps to restore law and order and ensure the safety of every citizen in the State. PTI
