PM Modi meets Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing in Key Bilateral Talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing for bilateral discussions as part of the visiting leader’s official trip to India, marking an important engagement between the two neighbouring countries.
The Myanmar President, who is on his first official visit to India in his current capacity, is in the country from May 30 to June 3. According to official details, he was invited by the Indian government and is accompanied by a high-level delegation including ministers and senior officials. The visit includes engagements in New Delhi, Bodh Gaya, and Mumbai, covering diplomatic, economic, cultural, and business interactions.

The visit is also seen as strategically significant, as both sides explore ways to enhance cooperation in trade, infrastructure, and energy security. Myanmar’s geographic position remains crucial for India’s northeastern connectivity and regional trade routes.
Earlier in the visit, the Myanmar President also participated in engagements at Bodh Gaya, reflecting the deep civilisational and cultural links between the two nations. Further business and industry meetings are scheduled in Mumbai as part of the ongoing trip.
