PM Modi in Rome, receives warm welcome from Italy’s Giorgia Meloni

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome in Rome from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as part of his ongoing diplomatic tour. The two leaders shared a dinner meeting followed by a visit to the historic Colosseum, where they exchanged views on strengthening India–Italy relations.
During the visit, Meloni posted a picture with PM Modi on X, writing “Welcome to Rome, my friend!” along with Indian and Italian flag emojis. The photograph quickly went viral, garnering over one million views, nearly 60,000 likes, and thousands of comments celebrating the leaders’ camaraderie.
PM Modi also shared multiple images from the dinner and Colosseum visit, describing it as a productive interaction covering a wide range of topics. He expressed optimism about deepening cooperation between India and Italy in the coming years.
The visit comes as part of PM Modi’s multi-nation diplomatic tour, with Italy marking one of the final stops. The two leaders are expected to hold formal bilateral talks, along with other high-level engagements aimed at boosting strategic and economic ties.
The repeated interactions and viral social media moments between Modi and Meloni have further popularised the informal “Melodi” trend online, symbolising growing India–Italy diplomatic warmth.
