PM Modi gifts ‘Melody’ to Giorgia Meloni, revives viral ‘Melodi’ trend in Rome

Prime Minister Narendra Modi revived the viral “#Melodi” trend during his visit to Rome by gifting a packet of “Melody” toffees to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a light-hearted diplomatic moment.
The exchange, filled with smiles and laughter, was shared by Meloni on Instagram, where she thanked PM Modi for the gift and described the toffees as “very, very good.” The playful interaction quickly gained attention online, with social media users once again celebrating the popular “Melodi” pairing.
The “Melodi” trend — a blend of the names Modi and Meloni — first became viral during the COP28 summit in Dubai after Meloni posted a selfie with PM Modi using the hashtag. Since then, the two leaders’ friendly interactions at various global events have frequently drawn widespread online engagement.
During the Rome visit, visuals of the leaders sharing informal moments, including selfies and conversations near the iconic Colosseum, also circulated widely on social media. The warm exchanges highlighted the growing personal rapport between the two leaders alongside strengthening India-Italy diplomatic ties.
PM Modi’s Italy visit is focused on boosting bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and strategic partnerships between the two countries.
