man arrested for torture, brutality
A 19-year-old college student from Tripura is recovering in a Delhi hospital after being rescued from a horrific three-day torture ordeal in Gurugram. Police arrested her live-in partner, Shivam (19), following a desperate distress call the victim made to her mother-a police officer in Tripura-on February 16. The victim reportedly told her mother, "I don’t have time, I will be killed," prompting an immediate rescue operation. The victim’s mother alleged that Shivam lured her daughter via an online app under the pretext of marriage. Once they moved into a Sector 69 paying guest accommodation, the accused allegedly began assaulting her over suspicions of infidelity. The victim was confined to a room, stabbed multiple times, and forced to drink urine. Police confirmed the accused filmed the victim nude and used sanitizer to burn her private parts. Rescued by Gurugram police on February 19, the victim is currently in stable condition at Safdarjung Hospital after initial treatment at AIIMS. Shivam faces charges of rape and assault and remains in custody.
Multi-crore IVF scam busted
Police in Maharashtra’s Thane district have dismantled a multi-crore egg-donation racket that systematically exploited at least 20 vulnerable women. Operating out of Badlapur and Vangani, the syndicate allegedly lured “needy” victims with payments of `25,000 to `30,000 per cycle. Authorities arrested three women-Sulakshana Gadekar, Ashwini Chabukswar, and Manjusha Wankhede-following a raid that uncovered forged documents, hormonal injections, and evidence of illegal financial transactions. Investigators reveal that victims were subjected to repeated hormonal treatments to stimulate egg production. These eggs were then surgically extracted at IVF centres and sold for lakhs of rupees. Ulhasnagar DCP Sachin Gore stated that the racket’s turnover is estimated in the crores, with high-profile doctors and hospitals involved.
