One dead, several injured after building collapse near Delhi’s Saket metro station

A multi-storey commercial building collapsed in Delhi’s Saidulajab area near Saket Metro Station on Saturday evening, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, and other agencies launched a large-scale operation to search for people trapped under the debris.
Authorities said at least nine people were pulled out, while one victim, identified as 26-year-old Ravi, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
According to officials, the building housed coaching institutes, offices, cafés, and a student mess, with construction work reportedly underway on the upper floors.
The structure suddenly collapsed into a massive pile of concrete and twisted metal, causing panic in the densely populated area. Several injured people were shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment.
Emergency teams continued rescue operations through the night using heavy machinery, victim-location cameras, and sniffer dogs to ensure no one remained trapped.
Authorities have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse, while concerns over building safety and illegal construction practices have once again come under scrutiny.
