Man dies after jump from 43rd floor of Noida building

A man from Gurugram allegedly died by suicide on Saturday after jumping from the balcony of a flat on the 43rd floor of a high-rise in Noida.
The deceased, identified as Sambhav Jain, a resident of Manesar in Haryana, had booked an Airbnb setup at the Supernova Spyra society in Sector 94 for a day, police said. Supernova is the tallest residential building in the NCR region at 68 floors.
Police said the man died on the spot after landing on the ground floor. The body was badly dismembered as it landed on the ground floor.
According to police, Jain allegedly jumped from the balcony of the room, resulting in his death. A forensic team has collected evidence from the spot, they said. Preliminary inquiry suggests that Jain was under mental stress, officials said.
A video of the incident showed the man jumping from the 43rd floor. Police said the man was living in an Airbnb in the building. He jumped from the Spira Tower in the Supernova complex in Sector 94, Noida.
Before the incident, an AC repair team was working in a nearby flat. The team tried to save Sambhav when they saw him hanging from the balcony railing. However, despite their attempts, he jumped from the 43rd floor. A distressing video captures the moments before the fall. Sambhav can be seen standing on the outer ledge of the high-rise balcony as people on the ground watch and record the situation in alarm. Bystanders can be heard frantically calling security and discussing his position, noting that he had climbed past the railing on a higher floor.
Police are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in the building and nearby areas, and questioning people present in the vicinity at the time of the incident. The body has been sent for an autopsy after informing Jain’s family members, police said. The deceased man’s conversation over chats with his father is also under probe as it indicated that he was suffering from financial strain. Police said the man had left his home three days ago and was staying in different hotels before he checked in at Supernova, Noida.
On October 2, the residents’ association at Supernova had warned flat owners and tenants against renting out homes to guests for brief stays. The Supernova Apartment Owners’ Association had circulated a notice saying residents who list or rent out flats on these platforms for short-term stays could face legal action. The association said the responsibility would rest with the respective flat owners or tenants.
This is not the first time someone has jumped to their death from the Supernova towers.
In August last year, a 23-year-old law student from Delhi died after falling from the 32nd floor of the building while staying in a flat.
Before that, in January 2023, a 43-year-old Delhi property consultant fell to his death from the 43rd floor of the under-construction upper section of the Supernova Spira tower during a site visit.
