LG clears long-pending land allotments for public projects
A series of long-pending land allotment issues delaying public infrastructure and welfare projects across the Capital have been resolved following directions from Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu, paving the way for the execution of projects related to security, transport, education, healthcare and civic services.
According to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the land allotments were expedited after the LG reviewed cases that had remained pending for years because of poor coordination among Government departments. The Raj Niwas said Sandhu has consistently stressed seamless cooperation among agencies to remove bottlenecks in public projects.
Among the key clearances, land has been allotted for four new police stations at Dilkusha Bagh, Sagarpur, Suyurpur and Kishangarh, a Forensic Science Laboratory at Narela, and Intelligence Bureau facilities at Dheerpur and Tahirpur. Land has also been earmarked for staff housing for the judiciary in Rohini and Shahdara.
To strengthen urban infrastructure, DDA allotted 20 hectares of land to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) at Sanoth for a Metro depot and another 16 hectares at Narela for a casting yard. It also allotted land for sewage treatment plants and sewage pumping stations at eight locations, besides granting 151 borewell clearances to the Delhi Jal Board. Additional land has been provided for a sewage treatment plant at Jaunti and an underground water tank at Sangam Vihar.
In the community welfare sector, DDA said it has issued 112 no-objection certificates (NOCs) for Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and five NOCs for Atal Canteens. Community halls have also been approved for sub-registrar offices at Dwarka Sector-19 and Manglapuri.
The authority has also allocated 8.5 hectares at Holambi Kalan for an e-waste eco-management park. In Ghazipur, 10 acres have been handed over to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), with another 10.4 acres allotted for expanding waste-to-energy and bio-methanisation facilities. Additionally, 24 sites have been allotted to MCD for fixed compactor transfer stations.
The education sector has also received fresh land allotments, including 22.43 acres for Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), 12.69 acres for Delhi Technological University (DTU) and 1,200 square metres for the Central Sanskrit University at the Education Hub in Narela. Land has also been allotted for a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Jwalapuri and government schools in Shalimar Bagh and Karawal Nagar.
Officials said the move is expected to accelerate several delayed public projects and improve coordination between departments involved in land allotment and infrastructure development across Delhi.
