J&K: 4 OGWs arrested

Security forces in the Kashmir valley are on high alert after four Over Ground Workers (OGWs), including a woman, were arrested in Srinagar on Wednesday night in the midst of the tourist season in the State. They were arrested for allegedly providing logistical support to terrorists.
The police have identified the OGWs as Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, and Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, all residents of Hazratbal. The woman was identified as Shazia Mohammad, a resident of Hazratbal.
Police have also recovered a hand grenade, 15 AK-47 rounds, four mobile phones and some cash from their possession.
The police have already launched thorough investigations and interrogated them to uncover any terror plot being hatched by the terrorist handlers of some of the Pakistan-based terror outfits active in the Kashmir valley.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 20/2026 at Police Station Ahmad Nagar under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act. Officials added that further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Meanwhile, tourist traffic to the Kashmir valley is likely to increase with the launch of the Vande Bharat Train services between Jammu and Srinagar via Katra from April 30. According to official sources, over 7.6 lakh tourists visited Pahalgam following the brutal terror attack. Tourist arrivals have steadily increased over the past few months. Between March 15 and April 15, 2026, 1.38 lakh tourists visited Pahalgam.
