Iran says Israel may derail ongoing US talks, Nuclear issue to be negotiated later

Iran has warned that Israel could attempt to undermine the ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington, even as discussions over a possible memorandum of understanding (MoU) continue.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that although progress has been made on several discussion points with the United States, an agreement is not close to being signed yet.
“We have reached conclusions on many topics under discussion, but that does not mean an agreement is imminent,” Baghaei said during a media briefing on Sunday.
He added that if an MoU is finalised, negotiations regarding the nuclear issue would take place during a separate 60-day period following the agreement.
Baghaei also referred to recent interactions between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, warning that Israel could try to disrupt the diplomatic process.
“The Zionist entities are doing their best to undermine the agreement, and we do expect some actions by Israel,” he said.
According to Iranian officials, Tehran currently has no guarantees that Washington would honour commitments made under any future agreement. Baghaei also stressed that Iran’s immediate focus remains on ending the ongoing conflict in West Asia rather than discussing nuclear matters.
“At this stage, we are not talking about the nuclear issue, and our focus is on ending the war,” he stated.
The spokesperson further clarified that there are no current plans for an official Iranian delegation to visit Pakistan, nor for Pakistani mediators to travel to Tehran, despite reports of diplomatic mediation efforts.
The developments come amid growing international attention on possible diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the region, including discussions linked to the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing conflict involving Lebanon.
