Inter-college fine arts contest held; 310 students participate

The University of Delhi’s Culture Council, in collaboration with Motilal Nehru College, organised a three-day inter-college fine arts competition from October 6 to 8, attracting 310 registrations across six categories.
Held at Motilal Nehru College (Evening), the competitions featured on-the-spot painting, collage making, clay modelling, rangoli, poster making and cartooning, according to a statement issued by the university.
The college served as the nodal centre for the fine arts category, bringing together students from colleges and departments across the university. The competitions featured themes such as means of transport and communication, cultural tourism, mother and child, Indian festivals, environmental conservation and childhood memories.
An expert panel of judges evaluated the entries, while designated observers monitored the proceedings over the three days, the statement said.
The valedictory ceremony and prize distribution were held on October 8, attended by Anoop Lather, chairperson of the Culture Council and public relations officer of the university, as the chief guest.
Ravinder Kumar, dean of the Culture Council, was the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Lather highlighted the importance of fine arts as a medium of creativity and self-expression, while Kumar encouraged students to recognise their individuality and engage meaningfully with creative pursuits.
Winners in all six categories received cash prizes, trophies and certificates. The first, second and third prize winners were awarded Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,000.
The ceremony also featured renditions of Vande Mataram, the university’s Kulgeet, Saraswati Vandana and a Shiv Tandav dance performance, the statement said.
The event aimed to provide students a platform to showcase their artistic talent, exchange ideas and promote creative engagement across the university community.
