India to host BRICS anti-drug agencies meeting in Guwahati from July 6

India will host the BRICS Heads of Anti-Drug Agencies Meeting in Guwahati, Assam, on July 6 and 7, bringing together senior officials from all BRICS member countries to strengthen cooperation against drug trafficking and related transnational crimes.
The two-day event, organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is being held as part of India's BRICS Chairship in 2026.
The meeting will focus on key issues such as combating synthetic drugs, preventing the diversion of precursor chemicals, strengthening intelligence sharing, improving operational coordination, and enhancing institutional capacity.
Delegates will also discuss emerging challenges, including darknet-enabled drug trafficking, new psychoactive substances (NPS), cryptocurrency-based financial networks, and the use of digital technologies for real-time drug interdiction.

The discussions are expected to conclude with the adoption of a joint declaration aimed at enhancing cooperation among BRICS nations in tackling the global drug menace. India has said the meeting reflects its commitment to shifting BRICS anti-drug cooperation from dialogue to action through stronger intelligence exchange, joint training programmes, and coordinated enforcement efforts against organised drug trafficking networks.
