IIT Delhi tops India list in QS World University Rankings 2027, climbs to 118 Globally

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has retained its position as India’s highest-ranked institution in the QS World University Rankings 2027, achieving a global rank of 118 and continuing its upward trajectory in international higher education rankings.
According to the latest QS rankings, IIT Delhi improved its position by five places compared to the previous year, reflecting gains in key indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, research output and global engagement. The institute continues to lead among Indian universities in overall performance.
The rankings also highlight the growing presence of Indian institutions in global higher education. IIT Bombay and IIT Madras also featured among the top-ranked Indian universities, although IIT Delhi remains the country’s top performer for the second consecutive year.
The QS World University Rankings evaluate universities based on several parameters, including academic excellence, research impact, teaching quality, international outlook and graduate employability.
IIT Delhi’s consistent rise in global rankings underscores India’s strengthening position in the international education landscape and its increasing influence in science, technology and innovation-driven research.
