Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings continue to inspire: LG
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Monday said the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur continue to inspire people to stand with truth, uphold human dignity and raise their voice for the rights of others.
Addressing a national seminar on ‘The Bani of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’ at Delhi University’s Hansraj College, Sandhu said the Guru’s message of freedom from fear, compassion and enlightenment remains relevant in contemporary times.
The seminar was organised jointly by the Ministry of Culture, Sahitya Akademi and Hansraj College to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Sandhu urged the youth to imbibe his teachings in their daily lives. He emphasised the values of equality and respect for all individuals, irrespective of caste and social distinctions, and called upon the youth to contribute to nation-building and the service of society. Professor Rama, principal of Hansraj College, said Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life should be read not merely as history but as a contemporary way of life, highlighting the importance of truth, independent thought and human dignity.
Sahitya Akademi president Madhav Kaushik said Guru Tegh Bahadur dedicated his life to the larger good of the country, religion and humanity. He highlighted the principles of human rights and Sarbat Da Bhala (welfare of all).
The event was attended by scholars and representatives from academic and literary institutions, including Professor Jagbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab, and Kuldeep Singh Agnihotri, Vice-President of the Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi.
The seminar emphasised that Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings transcend a particular period or community and continue to hold significance in contemporary society.
