GGSIPU, AICTE launch responsible AI framework
The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), in collaboration with the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), on Monday unveiled a structured framework for the responsible use of AI in education and governance. The framework was presented at a national conclave titled “AI Evolution – The Maha Kumbh of AI”, attended by policymakers, regulators, academics and industry leaders.
Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, the chief guest, said India must move swiftly to adapt its education system to rapid technological change. “AI is reshaping how societies grow and evolve. Academic syllabi must continuously respond to contemporary demands,” he said, stressing the need for responsible and self-reliant use of technology.
He referred to the Centre’s push to establish Centres of Excellence in AI for healthcare, agriculture and smart cities, and underlined that innovation must be aligned with public interest. The conclave, held at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, focused on integrating AI into higher education while addressing concerns around ethics, accountability and national capacity building.
Speakers said AI adoption in classrooms and governance systems must go beyond experimentation and be anchored in clear policy frameworks.
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood said the future of AI “cannot be nurtured in silos” and called education a process of liberation that must keep pace with emerging technologies. He pointed to Delhi Government initiatives such as the Vidya Samiksha Kendra and AI-powered education dashboards, which use data analytics to track learning outcomes. He also spoke about AI-based interventions in schools where students work on real-time civic problems, linking classrooms with the city’s governance challenges.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Mahesh Verma said GGSIPU has “reimagined education” to make it adaptive and inquiry-driven. He outlined the university’s AI framework, which is built on principles of technological sovereignty, responsibility and the idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. According to Verma, AI at GGSIPU is being positioned as an academic companion rather than a replacement for human learning, shifting focus from rote memorisation to mastery.
On the occasion, the university released two publications, AImagineering and AI Shakti, which lay out the philosophical and operational foundations of AI-enabled learning. Verma said the works aim to guide not just Indian institutions but also the global academic community. He also highlighted GGSIPU’s partnership with data centre firm Yotta to build an end-to-end AI-enabled education ecosystem.
AICTE Chairman Prof. TG Sitharam said regulators must work closely with universities and industry to ensure that AI adoption strengthens learning outcomes while safeguarding ethical standards. Outlook publisher Sandeep Kumar Ghosh added that AI should aid informed and judicious decision-making in public life.
