Four gangsters killed in Gurugram encounter

Late Thursday night, four men connected to gangster Deepak Nandal were shot dead, another was seriously wounded and three policemen sustained injuries in an encounter in Gurugram outside a property dealer’s house. The encounter took place outside Vishal Berry’s house in Sushant Lok Phase-2. Berry and his family were safely rescued.
Police recovered five pistols, over 50 empty cartridges, live ammunition, and a black Scorpio SUV from the scene. Police said the incident happened around 9.50 pm. Crime Branch teams got information from the Police Control Room about armed criminals in a Scorpio SUV. The gang came to threaten Berry and demand a ransom. Berry had reportedly received repeated threats from Nandal, who is believed to be outside India.
By the time the police reached Sushant Lok, the criminals had already started shooting at Berry’s house with advanced weapons. Police fired back in self-defence.

The injured gang member, Shivam from Kota Bisar in Nuh district, and the three wounded police officers were taken to the hospital.
Four gang members were declared dead on arrival. Three of the dead, Aryan, Nitin, and Ankit, were from Rohtak, and the fourth, Sandeep alias Deepa, was from Fatehabad.
Police said targeting a high-profile businessman like Berry is part of a pattern. Nandal’s network targets builders, property dealers, and other high-net-worth individuals in the National Capital Region.
The investigation is ongoing and focuses on the gang’s local connections, any earlier threats to Berry, and whether there is a larger conspiracy.
Nandal, one of Haryana’s most wanted gangsters, began his career in the Haryanvi music scene before turning to crime. Nandal reportedly left India around 2023 after being named in criminal cases. He is believed to run his operations from abroad, using social media, encrypted calls, and local shooters. His group is involved in extortion, contract killings, and arms smuggling in Gurugram and the NCR. The incident in Sushant Lok on July 9 and 10 followed a familiar pattern: the gang arrived armed, created fear by shooting or taking hostages, demanded large sums of money, and then either escaped or claimed responsibility online.
