Female protester injured during CJP march stable, off ventilator
The 21-year-old woman who sustained critical injuries during the clashes between CJP protesters and Delhi Police earlier this week is showing signs of recovery and has been taken off ventilator support, according to a health bulletin issued by Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Thursday.
Doctors said the woman was successfully extubated 24 hours ago and is now breathing on her own. She is conscious, responding appropriately to commands and remains under close observation in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
“The patient’s clinical condition is currently stable. However, she continues to require comprehensive critical care under the close supervision of a multidisciplinary treating team,” the hospital said in its latest medical update issued at 1 pm.
The health bulletin comes amid a wave of misinformation on social media claiming that the injured protester had died following the violence at Jantar Mantar. Delhi Police categorically denied the claims, calling them “entirely false and misleading”.
Police said the woman is alive, admitted to RML Hospital, and doctors have confirmed she is stable and out of danger. Authorities urged people not to circulate unverified information, warning that such rumours were aimed at creating panic and fuelling anti-police and anti-establishment sentiments.
Officials also cautioned that they would initiate legal action against individuals found spreading false or inflammatory content online. The woman was critically injured during the violence that erupted when protesters attempted to march towards Parliament during the CJP-led demonstration earlier this week. The clashes left several protesters and police personnel injured, prompting multiple FIRs and an ongoing investigation into the incident.
Delhi Police appealed to the public to rely only on official sources for updates and refrain from sharing unverified claims on social media.
