Fadnavis asks officials to speed up industrial land acquisition
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday directed officials to expedite land acquisition for industrial projects, saying the timely availability of land is crucial to sustain the State’s industrial expansion and attract investments.
Chairing a review meeting for projects under the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), the CM asked officials to simplify procedures, reduce administrative delays and ensure faster clearances for land allotment, said an official release issued after the meeting.
He said Maharashtra has been witnessing rapid expansion of industrial estates and stressed that land required for industries should be made available within stipulated timelines.
Fadnavis said the state’s online MILAP (Maharashtra Industrial Land Application & Allotment Portal) system has made industrial plot allotment more transparent by enabling online applications, real-time tracking, automated issuance of offer letters and allotment orders, and dashboard-based monitoring.
Between October 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026, the state allotted 1,183 industrial plots, generating revenue of Rs 5,502 crore, he said.
According to the chief minister, land acquisition for about 66,343 acres is currently underway across many districts, including Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Pune, Palghar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Thane, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Nashik and Wardha.
He said around 75,234 acres have been sought under 97 investment-related Memorandums of Understanding, and the required acquisition process is in progress, said the release.
Fadnavis directed officials to streamline approvals at various administrative levels and reduce delays arising from forest clearances and other regulatory procedures.
He also asked officials to prescribe project-specific timelines for the development of industrial plots based on the scale of investment. Construction on allotted plots should begin within the stipulated period, failing which graded penalties may be imposed and, where necessary, the land may be resumed by the Government, he said.
The chief minister further directed officials to study best practices adopted in India and abroad and frame revised criteria for industrial land allotment to improve efficiency and optimise land use, the release said.
The meeting reviewed industrial plot allotment, redevelopment of undeveloped plots, policy reforms in allotment, rationalisation of industrial land parcels and the status of land acquisition for ongoing industrial projects, it said.
