Delhi gang rape horror: Woman raped in bus, two arrested

A routine day turned into a nightmare for a woman in Outer Delhi after a bus driver and his helper allegedly gang-raped her inside a private bus, police officials said. Following the report of the incident, police arrested the two accused and seized the bus used in the crime for forensic examination. The two accused, Umesh and Ramendra, were identified and arrested shortly after the incident was reported. Ramendra was allegedly driving the bus at the time of the crime.
Police said, the woman is married and has three children. While returning home after work, she reached the bus stand in Saraswati Vihar and allegedly approached a man near the door of a private bus to ask for the time. The man allegedly pulled her inside the bus, after which the vehicle moved towards Nangloi. Police said the driver and conductor then allegedly raped her in turn.
Police said the two accused, both residents of Uttar Pradesh, had allegedly planned to pick up passengers from Nangloi. A PCR call regarding the incident was received from the Nangloi area around 4.45 am on Tuesday, following which a police team launched an immediate operation and apprehended the accused.
The victim underwent a medical examination, and an FIR was registered at the Rani Bagh police station under Sections of rape, gang rape, and common intentions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said they are investigating the case from multiple angles.
