Delhi BJP holds 6,450 Mann Ki Baat events across city
Delhi BJP organised approximately 6,450 simultaneous Mann Ki Baat listening events across the city on Sunday for the 136th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme, which coincided with Kargil Vijay Diwas. On the occasion, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra and hundreds of party workers observed a two-minute silence at the Delhi BJP office to pay tribute to soldiers martyred in the Kargil War after the programme concluded.
Malhotra listened to the episode at the Delhi BJP office alongside BJP National General Secretary Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, Odisha MP Balabhadra Majhi, Yuva Morcha President Rajat Chaudhary, Office Secretary Kailash Jain, Amit Gupta, and hundreds of young party workers.
The programme was held simultaneously across the city, with senior leaders attending at multiple locations. Organisation General Secretary Pawan Rana listened with party workers in Outer Delhi district. State General Secretary Vishnu Mittal attended in Delhi Gate Ward, General Secretary Yogita Singh with youth in Kalkaji, and General Secretary Mohan Lal Gihara in Madipur Ward.
BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri attended in Aya Nagar Ward, Kamaljeet Sehrawat in Amberhai village, and Bansuri Swaraj along with Rajya Sabha MP Dr Alka Gurjar and Satish Poonia in Sarojini Nagar. MP Swati Maliwal listened with local residents at Minto Road. Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal organised the programme at Hotel IBS in Aerocity, attended by more than 100 trader leaders who had come from across the country.
Speaking to the media after the programme, Malhotra said the Prime Minister respectfully paid homage to the brave martyrs and soldiers of the Kargil War and remembered their indomitable courage and sacrifice on Kargil Vijay Diwas.
On defence, Malhotra said the Prime Minister highlighted India’s growing defence capabilities and self-reliance, describing the successful trials of INS Mahendragiri, the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket, and the Kusha missile as major achievements of the country’s scientific and strategic capabilities.
On the environment, Malhotra said the Prime Minister, through the Catch the Rain campaign, called upon citizens to save every drop of water, promote rainwater harvesting, and revive water sources.
On sports and education, Malhotra said the Prime Minister highlighted the achievements of P.V. Sindhu and the Indian women’s cricket team and the outstanding performance of Indian students at the Olympiads as sources of national pride. On innovation and local enterprise, Malhotra said the Prime Minister highlighted the successful launch of Vikram-1, the achievements of local artisans and women’s self-help groups, and the Waste to Wealth initiative, conveying the message of promoting innovation, self-reliance, and Vocal for Local.
State Convenor of the Mann Ki Baat programme Rajan Tiwari confirmed that approximately 6,450 listening events were organised across Delhi on Sunday.
The 136th episode of Mann Ki Baat, broadcast on the last Sunday of each month, carried additional significance this week as it coincided with the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed on July 26 every year to commemorate India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil conflict.
