DDA to develop 5-star hotel in Dwarka

Dwarka, the mega sub-city of the national capital, is all set to have its first five-star hotel to cater to the proposed diplomatic enclave. Strategically located near Dwarka Golf Course, Yashobhoomi Convention Centre and Dwarka Sports Complex, it will strengthen Dwarka’s hospitality and tourism ecosystem.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has signed an agreement with a hospitality group, Juniper Hotels Ltd, through its subsidiary Juniper Hospitality Assets Private Limited, to develop a five-star hotel in Sector 23, Dwarka, a project that is likely to create around 800 direct employment opportunities. The project involves a capital investment of over Rs 1000 crore.
According to the Authority, this project is one of four special licence-fee projects DDA has auctioned over the past year and marks the first instance in which DDA has formally executed such a licensing agreement. The site will soon be handed over to Juniper Hotels Ltd, and the hotel is scheduled to become operational by 2030. Over the 55-year licence period, the hotel is projected to generate more than Rs 6,000 crores in revenue for DDA.
Once operational, the five-star property will strengthen the availability of quality accommodation in Delhi-NCR, while adding to Dwarka’s hospitality infrastructure and catering to the growing demand from business travellers, visitors and tourists, the DDA said.
The hotel is also set to be among the first hospitality facilities to cater to the proposed Diplomatic Enclave planned opposite the site, it added. Juniper Hotels Ltd is a strategic partnership between Saraf Hotels and Hyatt, a leading international hospitality brand, and currently manages seven hotels with 1,895 keys, including 245 serviced apartments, across strategic locations in India.
It intends to develop and operate the proposed 5-Star hotel in partnership with Hyatt under the Grand Hyatt brand. Recently, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu chaired an interactive session with industry representatives to discuss measures for accelerating Dwarka’s growth as a major economic and commercial hub.
