DDA holds stakeholder consultations on master plan 2047
The Delhi Development Authority held its fourth and fifth rounds of stakeholder consultations on the Master Plan for Delhi 2047.
The DDA engaged Resident Welfare Associations, Cooperative Group Housing Societies and leading industry bodies to discuss redevelopment of ageing housing societies and provisions for industrial promotion. The consultations, held in line with directions from Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, are aimed at ensuring MPD 2047 translates into tangible, long-term benefits for Delhi residents.
The fourth consultation, held Monday, focused on redevelopment of group housing and existing residential societies.
DDA officials briefed RWA and CGHS representatives on the policy framework for ageing neighbourhoods and older housing societies, particularly those more than 50 years old or structurally unsafe. Officials outlined key planning provisions under MPD 2047, including Transit-Oriented Development, FAR and incentivised FAR, and rationalisation of density restrictions, all aimed at facilitating planned redevelopment and better land utilisation.
The discussion also covered amalgamation of adjoining plots, road networks, parking facilities, open spaces, sustainable development and waste management.
DDA officials explained that the redevelopment framework seeks to enable more dwelling units, increased open spaces and improved parking, while ensuring safer living conditions in existing residential areas.
Residential representatives raised concerns and suggestions during the session, including calls for enhanced permissible FAR, a single-window system for approvals across multiple agencies, and structural safety audits of older buildings to assess their suitability for redevelopment.
The fifth consultation, held Tuesday, brought together representatives from major industry and commerce bodies, including the Confederation of Indian Industry, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ASSOCHAM, and the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation.
Discussions at this session centred on measures for promoting industry under MPD 2047, including provisions relating to allocation of DDA land to the private sector and the Institutional Social Responsibility framework. DDA officials briefed participants on the relevant provisions and the framework envisaged for facilitating industrial development in the capital.
Across both consultations, DDA officials addressed stakeholder queries and provided clarifications on various provisions of the Master Plan, while participants shared their views, suggestions and feedback on implementation.
DDA also informed participants about a time-bound grievance redressal mechanism being put in place to address concerns raised by housing societies undertaking redevelopment.
