DDA holds sixth, seventh MPD 2047 consultations with architects and planners
The Delhi Development Authority held its sixth and seventh rounds of stakeholder consultations on the Master Plan for Delhi 2047 with architects, planners and other professional stakeholders on Friday.
The consultation focused on spatial development policies including Transit Oriented Development, Land Pooling Areas, High Density Corridors and Low-Density Areas.
The consultations, held in line with directions from Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, aimed to foster wider stakeholder understanding and facilitate effective, participatory implementation of the Master Plan.
The sixth consultation was attended by architects, planners and representatives of NBCC, the Council of Architecture, the School of Planning and Architecture, the Institute of Town Planners India, the Delhi Jal Board and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board. The seventh consultation was attended by DEs, architects and planners. During the consultations, DDA provided an overview of MPD 2047 and its vision of creating a sustainable, green and liveable national capital.
Stakeholders were briefed on various Spatial Development Policies under the Master Plan, including Transit Oriented Development, Land Pooling Areas, High Density Corridors and Low Density Areas. Detailed information was shared on the Land Pooling Policy, covering DDA’s proactive role in the development process, the specific mechanism for land assembly, and the development of new road networks and other planned infrastructure in Land Pooling Areas.
The Transit Oriented Development framework was discussed, including Residential Affordable Housing Zones. Stakeholders were briefed on High Density Corridor development along both sides of Urban Extension Road-II.
The consultations also covered policy provisions relating to Low Density Areas and redevelopment in planned areas, spanning residential, commercial and industrial zones. Stakeholders were apprised of planning provisions for the O-Zone, particularly those relating to the rejuvenation of the River Yamuna and its floodplains.
Heritage conservation was discussed, covering the preservation and improvement of heritage buildings and sites. The Comprehensive Mobility Plan and provisions relating to Transferable Development Rights were covered as part of the broader planning framework under MPD 2047.
Discussions also addressed In-Situ Slum Redevelopment, with stakeholders briefed on various schemes and provisions relating to slum rehabilitation and redevelopment.
