CM Saini Inaugurates Rs 234-Cr Projects in Bhiwani; Unveils Major Welfare Push for Prajapati Community
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 19 development projects worth Rs 234.38 crore in Bhiwani district. The event, held during the state-level Maharaja Daksha Prajapati Jayanti celebrations, also witnessed a slew of announcements aimed at empowering the Prajapati community, known for its traditional pottery craft.
Saini inaugurated six projects worth Rs 87.42 crore and laid the foundation for 13 new projects worth nearly Rs 147 crore. Addressing a large gathering, Saini emphasized that the ancient art of pottery reflects the creativity, skill, and cultural pride of the Prajapati community. “Pottery making is not just an art form, it is a symbol of India's civilisational legacy. The government is committed to preserving and promoting it,” he said.
In a major initiative, he announced that land will be allocated to the Prajapati community in 2,000 villages of Haryana within the next 15 days, where panchayat land is available. Beneficiaries will receive land rights letters with complete details including Khasra numbers, ensuring uninterrupted access to soil for making earthenware. During the event, such rights letters were distributed to eligible members of the community.
Furthering the support for self-employment, Saini unveiled financial incentives under the Haryana Rural Industrial Scheme, which includes 15 percent capital subsidy on investment in machinery and infrastructure in B, C, and D category blocks. Additionally, a seven percent annual interest subsidy on term loans, up to Rs eight lakh per annum for seven years, will be provided to Prajapati entrepreneurs starting micro-industries.
The CM also sanctioned Rs 1.29 crore for various development works in Prajapati Dharamshalas across the state. In a separate announcement, Rs 21 crore was allocated for development projects in the Bhiwani assembly constituency, along with Rs five crore for works in the city and surrounding villages.
Saini underscored the government’s commitment to inclusive development, stating that welfare schemes are designed for every hardworking and honest citizen, not just specific castes or classes. “The Prajapati community, classified under BC-A, is entitled to several benefits including eight percent representation in Panchayati Raj institutions, Rs 51,000 Shagun aid for BPL girls’ marriages, pre-matric scholarships of Rs 4,000 per annum, and free coaching for competitive exams,” he added.
He also highlighted the formation of the Mati Kala Board, which has played a vital role in uplifting artisans and modernising traditional pottery techniques.
Calling Maharaja Daksha Prajapati a visionary and societal architect, Saini paid homage to his legacy, vowing to ensure the continued dignity, progress, and prosperity of Haryana’s artisan communities.
