CM lays foundation for 53 projects worth Rs 214 crore
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid foundation stones for 53 development projects worth Rs 214.12 crore in unauthorised colonies across Kirari, Bawana, Mundka, Narela and Nangloi Jat Assembly constituencies on Sunday. The projects are under the Seva Sankalp campaign, aimed at strengthening civic amenities for around 1.75 lakh residents.
The Chief Minister said the Delhi government's objective is to strengthen basic civic amenities across the city, with development works now being undertaken in a planned manner in areas that have long faced infrastructure problems. She said roads, drains, sewerage and drainage are basic rights of every citizen, and the Government is ensuring development reaches every lane and area of Delhi.
Under the 53 projects, 1,062 roads and lanes in 27 unauthorised colonies will be developed, along with around 89.82 km of road network and 147.69 km of drainage network, to improve local connectivity and reduce waterlogging.
North West Delhi MP Yogendra Chandolia, Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood and Ravindra Indraj Singh, and MLAs Raj Karan, Manoj Shokeen and Gajendra Daral attended the event.
Kirari Assembly constituency accounts for the largest share of the projects, with 27 development works to be undertaken in 14 unauthorised colonies at a cost of Rs 105.51 crore, including development of 640 roads and lanes, 50.71 km of roads and 101.42 km of drainage network.
Bawana will see nine works worth Rs 38.83 crore, Mundka five works worth Rs 22.05 crore, Narela four works worth Rs 14.48 crore, and Nangloi Jat eight works worth Rs 33.25 crore. The stormwater drainage networks planned across these areas are expected to improve drainage and reduce waterlogging, while paved roads and lanes will improve connectivity and reduce dust from damaged surfaces.
The Chief Minister said development work has gained new momentum following the change in government in Delhi after 27 years, with the Government focusing on permanent solutions to long-pending problems rather than merely making announcements. She said the government is working to fulfil basic needs across every lane, area and Assembly constituency, moving toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolve for a "Viksit Delhi," with emphasis on time-bound implementation on the ground.
PWD and Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said the Government is committed to ensuring development reaches every lane and household in unauthorised colonies, not just main roads, describing the 53 projects as an important step toward resolving long-pending basic problems by strengthening road, sewerage and drainage infrastructure.
Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh said adequate attention was not paid to development in the Kirari area during the previous Government's tenure, despite the Aam Aadmi Party remaining in power for a long period and continuing to hold the constituency's MLA seat.
He said the Chief Minister had now made a budget of `105 crore available for the area, ensuring no discrimination in development works or budget allocation based on whether a constituency has an AAP or BJP MLA.
During the programme, the Chief Minister also listened to the 138th episode of Prime Minister Modi's "Mann Ki Baat" with citizens and public representatives. She said "Mann Ki Baat" serves as a platform for public dialogue that highlights positive efforts and achievements of citizens across the country, strengthening the spirit of public participation in nation-building, and that the Prime Minister's thoughts motivate citizens to contribute toward national interest in their own capacity.
