CM joins Mann Ki Baat event, distributes bicycles

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday participated in a collective listening session of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme in Malviya Nagar and distributed bicycles to 15 meritorious and economically disadvantaged girl students as part of an initiative to promote education and women’s empowerment.
The event, titled ‘Viksit Malviya Nagar Sankalp Samaroh’, was held at the NCUI Auditorium on Sri Aurobindo Marg and attended by New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, Malviya Nagar MLA Satish Upadhyay, local residents, social workers and students.
Distributing the bicycles, provided through the Uma Niranjan Foundation, Gupta said access to education was the right of every girl and that self-reliance helped build confidence. She said the government was committed to ensuring that no girl’s education was hindered by economic or social barriers and urged the students to pursue their goals through education.
The Chief Minister also installed water pots for birds and appealed to residents to place water for birds and other animals at their homes, parks and public places amid the ongoing summer heat. She said caring for birds and other living beings during extreme weather conditions was a shared social responsibility.
During the programme, Gupta inaugurated an exhibition showcasing development works in the Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency and reviewed information on ongoing infrastructure and welfare projects. She said a developed Delhi could be achieved through improved local infrastructure, better public amenities and active citizen participation.
Gupta said such initiatives would provide constructive avenues for youth, helping them develop talents, adopt healthy lifestyles and strengthen leadership skills.
She reiterated the Delhi Government’s commitment to building a “Viksit Delhi” through improvements in education, healthcare, environment, sports, culture and infrastructure.
