CM hears grievances, orders time-bound resolution

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta held a public hearing at the Chief Minister’s Janseva Sadan on Wednesday. The Chief Minister directly interacted with citizens from across the city, hearing their complaints and directing officials to ensure time-bound resolution based on the seriousness of each case.

The Chief Minister said the Government’s doors must always remain open to citizens, who should be able to approach the administration directly, have their concerns heard with sensitivity, and not be forced to make repeated rounds of Government offices for a resolution. She described this approach as the working culture of the current Delhi Government.

During the hearing, citizens raised issues spanning education, pending award money, waterlogging, sewerage, electrical safety, sanitation, illegal construction and unauthorised connections. The Chief Minister heard each case and directed concerned officials to conduct investigations, take necessary action and ensure resolution within a defined timeframe. She particularly emphasised sensitive handling of matters concerning student safety and education, and stressed prioritising complaints that had remained pending for extended periods.

Several citizens told the Chief Minister they had earlier submitted complaints to relevant departments, but their issues remained unresolved despite considerable time having passed. The Chief Minister directed officials to review such long-pending complaints on priority and move forward with administrative action wherever required. She said the purpose of a public hearing was not merely to listen to grievances, but to see them through to actual resolution.

Women who attended the hearing expressed considerable enthusiasm over the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. Several women from different parts of the city greeted the Chief Minister and voiced their confidence in the scheme, expressing happiness over the release of the first instalment of Rs 2,500 to eligible beneficiaries starting September 1.

Some citizens attending the hearing also brought handmade Laddu Gopal idols for the Chief Minister, presenting them as gifts and extending Janmashtami greetings on the occasion.

The public hearing forms part of a regular practice by the Delhi Government to allow direct citizen access to top officials for grievance redressal, with the Chief Minister personally reviewing complaints and issuing directions for follow-up action across departments.

The range of issues raised, spanning civic infrastructure, education, safety and financial disbursements, reflected the broad scope of concerns citizens bring to such public hearings, with the Chief Minister’s office indicating that each case would be tracked individually rather than treated as a general grievance to be addressed collectively.

The enthusiastic response from women regarding the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana coincided with the scheme’s rollout phase, with the first round of monthly financial assistance reaching eligible beneficiaries just as the public hearing was held.
