CM hands appointment letters to 1,368 teachers

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday distributed appointment letters to 1,368 newly recruited teachers at a state-level ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam. The new appointees include 1,015 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), 236 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) and 117 music teachers, who will join government schools across the city.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the appointment letters carried more than a job offer. She described them as a responsibility to shape the future of lakhs of children studying in Delhi.

She said Delhi was a city of dreams for people from across the country, and every child enrolled in a Delhi government school was a child of the city. Providing quality education, healthcare and a secure future to these children remained the government’s top priority, she said.

Education Minister Ashish Sood, senior officials of the Directorate of Education and other dignitaries attended the event. The Chief Minister said the new teachers would bring better academic guidance and fresh opportunities to thousands of students. She called the recruitment drive a key step in filling vacant posts and strengthening the teaching workforce in government schools.

Recalling an experience from a school visit, the Chief Minister said she had learnt directly from students that several schools lacked teachers for subjects such as science and music.
