BJP Mahila Morcha protests over Rahul Gandhi’s alleged misbehaviour with women cops
Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha workers staged a protest near Indira Bhawan, the Congress headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s alleged misbehaviour with women police personnel on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Near Hindi Bhawan, the police formed a heavy human barricade and forcibly stopped the women participating in the protest march. The protesters subsequently staged a sit-in at the spot. After some time, the police warned them and allowed them to leave.
The BJP has accused Rahul Gandhi of “inappropriately touching” a female constable and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of “punching” a cop during their street protest, and claimed that the action of the Congress leaders was not consistent with their slogan of “smash the patriarchy”.
“There is a place for disagreement in a democracy, but raising a hand against women police personnel and insulting them is unacceptable. Every citizen has a duty to respect the uniform. If such anti-women behaviour does not stop, the BJP Mahila Morcha will intensify its agitation on an even larger scale,” said Delhi BJP General Secretary Yogita Singh
Mahila Morcha in-charge Aarti Mehra said that someone who cannot respect the uniform that protects women cannot claim to respect the country’s women. The Congress party must apologise to the nation. Rahul Gandhi must immediately apologise; otherwise, the women of Delhi will respond to this on the streets.”
Rahul Gandhi’s misbehaviour with women police personnel is shameful. The Congress has always insulted women. We demand that Rahul Gandhi issue a public apology immediately. The insult to Nari Shakti will no longer be tolerated. Rahul Gandhi’s misbehaviour with women police personnel reflects the anti-women mindset of the Congress. Insulting the uniform insults the nation. We demand an immediate apology from Rahul Gandhi. The BJP Mahila Morcha said it will remain committed to protecting women’s dignity and the self-respect of women police personnel.
