BCCI Seeks Explanation from Riyan Parag Over Vaping Video During IPL 2026 Match

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has taken note of a viral video allegedly showing Riyan Parag vaping inside the dressing room during an Indian Premier League 2026 match, stating that it will seek an explanation from the player before deciding on further action.
The footage, reportedly captured during a live broadcast, appeared to show the Rajasthan Royals captain vaping during their chase against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur. The clip quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread debate.
A BCCI official confirmed that vaping is not permitted under league rules and that the matter is currently under review. “We will be seeking an explanation from Riyan on this issue. Depending on his response, the IPL will take further action,” the official said.
The incident is believed to have occurred shortly after Parag was dismissed during RR’s 223-run chase. While no disciplinary action has been announced yet, the case is being internally examined.
Parag, who took over as Rajasthan Royals captain after Sanju Samson moved to the Chennai Super Kings, has had a modest season so far, scoring 117 runs in nine matches without a half-century.
This marks the second controversy involving the Rajasthan Royals this season. Earlier, team manager Ravinder “Romi” Bhinder was penalised for breaching IPL protocols during a match, though he was later cleared by the board’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit with a warning and a fine.
Rajasthan Royals are scheduled to face Delhi Capitals in their next match in Jaipur, as the team looks to move past the controversy and focus on the remainder of the season.
